The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its annual academic awards over the past three weeks, which bestowed honors on 10 of the Little East Conference’s 13 programs. In order to be recognized the program’s head coach must be a due-paying member of the organization.
 
The University of Southern Maine was named one of the 59 DIII recipients of the NFHCA National Academic Team Award, which recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year.
 
The NFHCA National Academic Squad honored 107 LEC undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year. Among that group, 31 were additionally recognized as Scholars of Distinction for achieving a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher.
